A large part of who we become is shaped by how we are raised, and my parents had a profound influence on the person I am today. My father served 31 years in the military—spanning WWII, Korea, and Vietnam—which instilled in me a deep respect for discipline, hard work, and the value of a dollar. His Depression-era upbringing taught me resiliency and resourcefulness. My mother, an Army nurse, showed me the importance of compassion and service, and her belief in education made me a lifelong learner.

Those lessons fueled my entrepreneurial streak early on. By 13, I was raking leaves and shoveling driveways around the neighborhood, learning firsthand what it meant to work for what you earn. As soon as I was old enough, I took my first “real” job tearing tickets at the local movie theater—work I continued through high school and during college breaks.

After graduating from Bloomfield Hills Lahser High School, I began studying Aerospace Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Two years later, in 1992, I shifted my focus to Business and Psychology after launching my career in financial services. I started at a small credit union as a teller and member service representative, eventually moving into management for a large regional bank where I specialized in opening and developing new branches in emerging markets.

My career took a defining turn in 1999 when the bank launched a pilot program allowing select managers to begin offering investments. I joined a small, intensive study group to master the fundamentals of markets and regulations—and immediately knew I had found my calling. That experience launched a path that would lead to multiple securities and insurance licenses and, ultimately, the Certified Financial Planner® designation.

Today, with over three decades of experience in the financial services industry, I am the founder of Coast to Coast Financial Planning and the creator of the C2C Planning Process.  My firm and my process specialize in helping people who share similar stories.  They have already raised their families and climbed the career ladder.  Now retirement is looming on the horizon- and they have some big concerns.  They wonder if they have saved enough, if there is anything else they should be doing, and, most importantly, what life in retirement is really going to look like.  The C2C Planning Process is built to answer those questions and provide clarity and confidence so clients can look forward to the future with anticipation, not apprehension.

Outside the office, I stay active and connected to the sport I fell in love with as a kid—hockey. I play in local leagues and travel to tournaments across North America. I recently relocated to Jupiter, Florida, and I'm pleased to see my younger sister, Emily, flourishing in a nearby ARC group home in Stuart. She is a huge sports fan, and while she follows just about everything, we share a special love of hockey. At home, my lazy beagle, Lewis, keeps me company while I spend much of my free time working on home improvement projects—there's always something new to fix, build, or upgrade.
